Installing LumiViewer and Connecting Your NVR

LumiViewer allows you to view live and recorded video from your Network Video Recorder (NVR) on a Windows computer. Follow the steps below to install the software and connect your NVR.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  • A computer with administrator rights to install software.
  • The NVR's IP address (for local access) or Serial Number (SN)/QR Code (for remote access).
  • The NVR's username and password.

Step 1 – Download and Install LumiView CMS

  1. Download the latest LumiViewer software.

    Windows PC: Download here
    Mac (ARM64): Download here

  2. Run the installation file.
  3. Follow the installation wizard and accept the default settings.
  4. Once installation is complete, launch LumiViewer.

Step 2 – Log In to the Software

  1. The first time the software opens, you will be prompted to create a local administrator password.
  2. Create a secure password and confirm it.
  3. Log in using the password you created.

Note: This password is for the LumiViewer software on your computer only. It is not your NVR password.


Step 3 – Add Your NVR

  1. Click Device Manager.
  2. Select Add.
  3. Choose one of the following connection methods:

Option 1 – Remote Connection (P2P)

Use this option when connecting over the internet.

Enter:

  • Device Name (e.g., Office NVR)
  • Serial Number (SN) or scan/import the QR code if supported
  • Username
  • Password
  • Protocol (leave the default unless instructed otherwise)

Click Save.


Option 2 – Local Network (Recommended)

Use this option if your computer and NVR are on the same network.

Enter:

  • Device Name (e.g., Office NVR)
  • IP Address of the NVR
  • Port (leave the default unless instructed otherwise)
  • Username
  • Password
  • Protocol (leave the default unless instructed otherwise)

Click Save.


Step 4 – View Live Video

  1. Press the House icon.
  2. Open the Live View screen.
  3. Expand your device list on the right by pressing the arrow.
  4. Double-click the camera or drag it into a viewing window.
  5. Repeat for additional cameras as needed.

Step 5 – Playback Recorded Video

  1. Select Data Retrieval.
  2. Expand your device list on the right by pressing the arrow.
  3. Select the date and time.
  4. Choose the desired camera.
  5. Click Search.
  6. Use the timeline controls to review recorded footage.
