If your security system reports a low-battery condition, follow the steps below to replace the batteries.

Important: If the alarm system is monitored, place the system on test with the monitoring station before replacing the batteries to prevent an unnecessary alarm signal or dispatch.

Battery Replacement Procedure

1. Place the alarm system on test with the monitoring station.
2. Remove the smoke detector from its mounting base. Depending on the model, this may require twisting the detector counterclockwise or releasing a locking mechanism.
3. Carefully remove the existing batteries. A small flathead screwdriver may be used if needed, following the battery compartment instructions.
4. Wait at least 30 seconds before installing the new batteries.
5. Install the correct replacement batteries, following the polarity markings (+/-) inside the detector.
6. Reinstall the smoke detector onto its mounting base and ensure it is securely locked in place.
7. Allow the detector to power up and return to normal operation. The LED indicator and startup sequence will vary by model.
8. Confirm that the low-battery condition has cleared from the alarm system.
9. Clear the system test with the monitoring station.
